Performance Validation of Resonant Wave Power Converter with Variable Moment of Inertia

This study focuses on the performance validation of a wave energy converter (WEC) equipped with resonant frequency adjustment capability. Achieving resonance oscillation period waves is crucial for maximizing efficiency conversion systems. For this purpose, we introduce variable moment inertia (VMI) device that allows tuning by adjusting position mass. proposed approach, verification experiments were conducted using vibration platform. Through free experiments, identified system’s and characteristics. In our forced tests considering band coastal area, harmonic performed over range 0.4–0.8 Hz. these considered three separate cases distance from reel’s center to As result, found WEC can be adjusted 0.65 Hz when mass furthest away 0.55 it closer. research confirms benefits obtained utilizing VMI adjust WECs without changing or springs. offers promising opportunity enhance resonant-type energy.
